Welcome to the Riverview Bed and Breakfast

Welcome to the Beautiful Copper River Valley

Riverview1 The Riverview Bed and Breakfast is a spacious log cabin home built along the Copper River in Gakona, Alaska. Surrounded by native Alaskan spruce and aspen trees, the house features authentic Alaskan decor. Many native Alaskan items are on display in the public areas as well as in the bedrooms.

Riverview2 The untamed Copper River Basin is a favorite destination for fishermen in the summer and for tourists and outdoorsmen all year. Winter activities abound and we can help you make arrangements with local guides and backcountry services. Or, if simple relaxation is your destination, our comfortable home will more than satisfy you with its peaceful setting and warm ambience.

Living Room The comfortably furnished second floor living room affords spectacular views of the swift Copper River through panoramic picture windows. In the summer, you can sit on our deck and enjoy the cool Alaskan evenings. There are clear views of two of the major mountains in the Wrangell/St. Elias National Park, less than 25 miles away. Mt. Sanford, one of the tallest mountains in North America at 16, 237 feet and Mt. Drum, at 12, 000 feet are most impressive in the evening as they catch the last rays of the setting sun.

Inside, spend the evening discussing your Alaskan adventure with your fellow guests, inquire about local activities or legend with your hosts, both of whom are former Alaskan bush teachers, examine the numerous interesting items made in Eskimo villages, enjoy the game room or simply relax with a book.

Breakfast in Alaska!

Dining Room Join us in our dining room for a hearty breakfast to start your day. The Riverview Bed and Breakfast serves full Alaskan breakfasts including coffee, juice or fruit cup and a hot entree. Among the items that are on our menu are Pecan waffles, blueberry pancakes, omelettes or fried eggs and various types of breakfast meats including bacon and reindeer sausage.

We try to serve locally grown fruits whenever possible (we'll give you directions to good berry-picking areas during season!).

Window If you wish, you may have lighter fare including cold cereal or hot oatmeal. If you have special dietary needs, we will try to accommodate you. Please let us know when making your reservation.

If you prefer, you can sit next to the picture window and enjoy the river view as the bright Alaskan sun rises over the Wrangell mountains.

The Riverview Bed and Breakfast is a smoke, alcohol and drug free accommodation. There are several excellent restaurants and an historic lodge close by in the village of Gakona where full dinner service is available including local meat and fish in season.
